The gas is consumed and heat is generated inside the cylinders when the boat's engine is started. The raw water (from a lake or the outside) is pumped into the engine block, passing through the power and cylinder heads, absorbing the heat, and cooling it. There will be no pumping of water inside if the impeller is faulty. Mallory 9-45606 and Yamaha 6F5-44352-00-00 are interchangeable with the Sierra 18-3088 Impeller. Sierra products meet or exceed the specifications of the original equipment part they replace.
